The
Light Brigade is an organization for youth who through competition

develop experiences which will enhance their lives. The Light Brigade
has been in existence since August 1976 and is governed by the Light
Brigade Executive Board.
The Light Brigade is a member of the Mid-Atlantic
Indoor Network (MAIN) and Winter Guard International (WGI) who sponsor

During the fall, the color guard season starts
and marching techniques are sharpened for competition while parental
participation and emphasis on education is stressed.
One of the goals of our program is to involve the
youth in the community. The organization provides a disciplined
regimented and a productive outlet for the youth thus cutting down
on the delinquency in the community and making better citizens for
the community. Through the efforts of our organization we instill
respect for property, ones self and others. Equally important is
our dedication to the development and interaction with their peers
from around the country. The youth learn to be self reliant, to
compete with desire as well as confidence and to respect cultural
differences of others.

The Light Brigade is supported through various
benefits given in the community as well as social affairs sponsored
by the organization. Most of our financial and operating expenses
have been met through the efforts of many adult volunteers, former
marching members, friends, neighbors, and the youth themselves.
The Light Brigade is now in its 32nd year in existence.
Some recent achievements include: 2007 WGI European Regional World
Class Champions and three years as a WGI World Class Finalist.
